Not sure if I'm asking for the right thing, so please bear with me.  I'm not actually looking for anybody to supply me with FX, but does anyone know of a source for Cue lists?

When I work on a show, I typically sit down with a higlighter and a script and spend several days gogin over the script to find every thing that I think should be handled by the sound booth.  Once I'm satisfied, I sit down and type them all up into a spreadsheet, with act/scene, page#, in cue, out cue.

Then I pull, mix and create my sounds, and enter things like Track title, duration, volume, source etc...

After tech rehersal, I massage the cues to fit the director's needs and notes, add "Special notes" where needed (like, actor always misses this cue, be on your toes...)

I'd love to find a source for getting cue lists for shows, so I didnt' have to do it ALL from scratch.  It is a community theater, and I put a lot of work into it, but my time is limited and a source for the "standard cues as written in the script" would be a god-send...

I'm only looking for the traditional, script written cues, because of course, I like to find things that I can add that lend to the ambience of a scene based upon the settings, or because the director asked me for something.

Example: one show - the set was supposed ot be near a train station, and a cast member remarked that they never heard a train... so I added one or two in the distant background, director and I played with the levels so that they did not interfere with the dialogue and I actually got some feedback from friends in the audience that it was cool.

Those sorts of things I'll still have to do by hand, but I woldn't have to spend 3+ hrs doing the standard ones...

Do you mean sound cue sheets?  Blank ones or cue sheets done for certain plays?

That would be wonderful - to have a pool of cue sheets for individual plays.  Of course, each director would want something different, most likely.

I'm on the look-out for a SFX CD that doesn't cost an arm and a leg (under $20) that has some standard SFX (telephone ringing, etc.) so I don't have to download from the internet every time I need a sound.

You can find sound effects CDs at Sam Goody's.  I've bought several of them.  They have hundreds of sounds on a single CD.  They aren't too bad really.

Suddenly I have an idea what to do with my old sound cue sheets.  Hmm, maybe someone should collect them and put them in a standardized format.  Too bad I'm too busy doing sound.

Be sure to check the scripts for a sound plot.  Along with the basic stage diagrams that are often provided in the front or back, many also include a sound plot with the required built in sound cues.
