Hi, I'm new (so sorry if I do something stupid!) and have kind of an odd question.

I'm lucky enough to have a friend who did a lovely headshot for me.  However, I feel odd actually bringing a copy to auditions (unless the audition notice specifically says to bring one) because I don't want to look all "hoity-toity" or anything -- I know I'm not trying out for Broadway.

What do you all think about headshots?  (And about the people who have 'em?)

Thanks!

If it's a show with a large cast, maybe you could bring it and offer it so they can remember your face.  If no one else has brought a headshot, and the audition board doesn't ask, keep it in your folder.

Our Community Theatre, and the community it is in, is so small we remember everyone we audition LOL .  We occasionally take digital photos of auditioners if it's a large show.  We do ask for headshots of the leads to put in the lobby for some shows, but usually end up taking them ourselves since very few of our actors have their own headshots.  The ones who do have them either have been in professional theatre or are trying to break into professional theatre/films.

if you got 'em, use 'em

it might help a director remember you - and it's not going to hurt
anything if they don't want them.

I usually get 1/2 with headshots and 1/2 without ... and, though,
I don't care from any kind of 'etiquette' way whether people
have shots or not, it *does* help me remember who is who -
especially in large auditions for large musicals when we see a
LOT of people.

head shot copies are cheap - spread 'em around

If someone comes with a headshot great. If they haven't got one, I will take a digital photo. It really does help me remember who is who.
