being an actress and huge procrastinator, i have put this off thus far.. and
i need help... so here i am.
being a very inexerienced makeup artist the director of the show i am in
(into the woods) has decided to make me the makeup designer of the
wolf. i am in completley over my head.
i expirimented on my friend last night, and i *think* i got the mouth right
but i'm completley lost for what to do concerning the eyes, cheeks and
forehead.
we are a very new theatre (3 years old, one show a year) and our budget
is almost laughable so we cannot use latex or nose and scar wax etc.
help??
thanks

First of all, "Into the Woods" is a faerie tale, a fantasy,
and an allegory. The audiences who will be
attending come fully prepared to suspend their
disbelief.
Even if the actor playing the wolf had no make-up
whatsoever, the audience would accept this as part
of the theatrical convention. Some may leave
swearing on oath the actor WAS wearing make-up
when none was visible.
Don't concern yourself with duplicating an actual wolf
or getting the make-up "right." Allow your creativity
and imagination to take over.
Jowls, whiskers, eyebrows, fur -- these are all things
that can come into play. Experiment. Have fun.
