At age 50, I find that I am in need of a magnifying mirror. I have a plug-in portable makeup mirror with lights, but I find that the lights make way too much glare for me to use them. The makeup mirror in the dressing room are fine, so apparently if the lights are above, and farther away from my view, it is OK.

I also decided it is time for me to invest in a makeup case. So, I have been trying to find one that has both a mirror and some lights built in. I found some small ones designed for women, but they have a very small mirror. Also, they had LED lights, and realize those are normally terrible, in terms of their color spectrum.

Here is all the features I am seeking;
1) Between 1/2 and 1 cubic foot of total storage space.
2) Magnifying mirror, large enough to see my entire face.
3) Lights with reasonable color rendering, not positioned immediately beside the mirror.

The above does not seem to exist, so I think I may just try to make my own makeup case. I want to get a small briefcase, and attach a mirror to the lid. But, the light source itself has me stumped. I do want to avoid using plug-in lights, since we often have little dressing room space, and battery power will allow me to do my makeup anywhere. So, of course, the LEDs are desirable from that perspective, since they provide a good amount of light without much power draw.

However, I am not finding any good LED light sources that diffuse the light, and that state they have a good color spectrum.

Any recommendations?
