Does anyone know where I can get my hands on Jean Poiret's version of La Cage Aux Folles? This is the French play that the musical was based on.

I don't believe it was ever translated into English. It was a French play, then a French movie, then an American movie (Birdcage), then an American Musical.

It was an American musical long before the movie "The Birdcage" came out. I shudder when the two are mentioned together.

Sorry I got the sequence wrong.
French Play French Movie American Musical Play American Non-Musical Movie You can cringe all you want, but the fact remains that all four share the same source material. You want to talk about cringing, let's discuss the movie version of "Man of La Mancha". |
