Topic: Cyc lighting colors...again Posted: 4/13/11 at 7:39pm |
I am getting close to show time and am now needing to put the pen to paper with regard to my light plot. I rent a theatre that does not really have much tech support. The theatre (high school) has a wire mesh floor with 11 single cell cyc lights. I am renting a cyclorama for the first time (yea!).
Anyway, b/c I am building up the stage in the back with (2ft) elevated platforms that will go almost right up to the cyclorama, I don't think I can put any lights on the ground to help light the cyc. My show calls for the following cyc washes: vibrant red (for a scene with a guillotine), sky blue, steel blue (for an ominious ocean voyage), and a neutral tone for scenes that don't need to make a statement. Can I get these different colors on my cyc with my fixtures. If I need more light power, can I supplement with parcans? I have access (through our church) to bring in more parcans. Can you tell I don't know what I am doing? Yep, but I learn so much with each show. Any advice???? |

Parcan beams are elliptical & unlike Fresnel or profiles [ellipsoidal] who's beam can be manipulated. Parcans have a linear hotspot across the centre of the beam, which can be rotated to suit limited requirements. These are not the best to attain a smooth wash colour on the cyc. Use the swatch ball for colour comparisons Edited by JoeMc - 4/16/11 at 12:24am |
