I'm currently taking an upper-division theatre directing class and my professor, while great, is not very thorough in his explanations of what certain things are.  I would like to have concrete examples or samples of things such as a directors statement or directors concept.  He tells us to do these things but never gives us examples or grade them to give suggestions. 

He went to Columbia and has a brilliant mind, but as far as teaching goes he is very hands on and not very technical.  I'm learning a great deal from him and it has given me an even deeper love for directing.

So I was wondering if anyone here can provide me some examples, links, or files I can look at.  Has anyone here put together a directing portfolio for admission into an MFA program for directing?
