Has anyone performed or seen this show either on broadway or in community theater? Our CT is thinking about doing it, and casting high school kids. What kind of success have you seen with it? Thanks!

I saw the original production at the Taper in LA. I enjoyed it, though it certainly wasn't a perfect show (it's been a couple years, but I think it struck me as a little on the "cute" side at times), and apparently it didn't transfer well to Broadway. On the other hand, the kid rock band was pretty killer. All in all, it strikes me as needing talented, age-appropriate performers to pull off well.

I got the recording from my public library just for fun. Some of the things they talk about in the songs aren't what I like to relate 13 year olds with. Not exactly the cute show I was expecting. |

I heard some of this on XM's Broadway channel the other day. Sounded great, but that's all I know about it.
