Topic: Scrim Lighting Posted: 11/04/09 at 7:09am |
Hi all,
I just purchased a 15x30 Chameleon scrim. Now I want to light the scrim. My choices are:
1. (2) Selecon Cycs/Hui's (3 lights per set).
2. (2) LED Light bars
3. Approx. 10 LED PAR 64 lights
Has anyone used a scrim and what lighting choice did you find to give the best result?
BTW, I'm just looking to add color to the scrim, such as a deep orange for effects. Thanks

Hi. there is no way to answer your question without further information. You would need to provide specific photometric data for the second and third choices, and also provide specific information for how big your stage is, how far away is the audience from the scrim, how far away the light source will be from the scrim, and what wattage lamps you intend to use in the fixtures.
My initial inclination is that only two Selecon Cycs or Huis is nowhere near sufficient to provide even illumination across the surface of a 30 foot wide scrim. The LED sources are likely going to put out a whole lot less light than an incandescent source would. If these are your only choices, then I would think the incandescent sources would be the best ones, but you might need a lot more than just two fixtures for each color. |
