bullet Topic: Large cast classic comedies?
    Posted: 6/26/09 at 7:03am
Hello,
I am looking for a large cast (18-25) full length classic comedy for a production this fall. I don't really want the Hart and Kaufman classics ( The Man Who Came to Dinner, You Can Take It With You, etc.) or a musical, but I am looking for time-tested audience rolling in the aisles lunacy. I have a wonderful group of talented young actors and actresses who have recently presented The Music Man and Nicholas Nickleby, and I wish to give them a great story told well for their next project.
I would also conssider an excellent large cast murder mystery...
Any suggestions along these lines would be gratefully appreciated. I know you are all researching your own theatre seasons as well, and I thought I would throw this out there and stir up the pot a bit.
Many thanks, Martin

This isn't exactly a "classic" comedy, but it definitely will be.

Check out Is He Dead? a new Mark Twain comedy as adapted by David Ives. Cast size is 11-16 I think. It was just on Broadway in 2007 and is now going up all over the place.

Arsenic and Old Lace, Anne of Green Gables, Christmas Carol, One Foot in Heaven, Harvey
I wouldn't say there are 'lay them in the aisle' but they are comedy in the 'happy ending' sense.
