Any suggestions for medium sized musicals ... maybe something that could work with a cast of 20? Comedy is ALWAYS a plus as well as name recognition.
Thanks - |

Joes Coat (Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat) is supposed to be a cast of 28 (original off-broadway and then broadway company). Although you usually see versions with 35 - 60, but that wasn't the intent.

If you're going for major name recognition I'd say Wizard of Oz, Grease, Willy Wonka... that sort of thing. Or anything that's been made into a movie ;)

Darn, Tristanrobin must have peeked at my score list, I agree 100% with all the picks, with a favorite place in my heart for:
The Baker's Wife (Stephen Schwartz)
24 parts, NO chorus, each actor has a specific part and character within the show, so you have no "3rd person from the left."
Beside the GLORIOUS music, it's a heart-breaker, and fun for the entire cast!
And.. if you need full orch music. This orch features 2 keybds, harp, an 18th cent drumset, viola/cello (no violin), f horn (no tpt or tbn), reeds.. so it's an eccentric pit. See http://www.bway2.com/tracks/baker for 30 sec samples of every song.
