Topic: Outdoor Fantasy Play Posted: 4/30/08 at 8:50pm |
I have been looking and looking for a very specific type of play and can't seem to find it - I would love any help.
I am trying to stage a play outdoors that is appropriate and entertaining for children but also adults. I would like something really really feel good and sort of fantasy-ish. Ideally, something like a play version of Amelie. Does anyone have any ideas?? Thank you!! |

Of course, "A Midsummer Nights Dream" is the first thing that comes to mind. It's never too early to expose children (and some adults) to Shakespeare. I've seen numerous outdoor productions of this classic performed to great success.

You could try Rapunzel, by Philippa Smith or some of the plays by Geoff Bamber (several have been performed outdoors). Geoff Bamber's plays were mainly written to be played by children (or a mixture of adults and children), but the humour appeals to a mixed audience.
