Help. Just help.
What is your theater's policy towards babies and toddlers? It seems to be getting worse and worse at ours. |

How do you mean? At the theater? In the audience?
In our theater, we havn't had a problem with people bringing small children to our shows. They bring them to our Melodramas, but those are kid friendly in that they get to Boo the villian and Yay the hero.
As for at the theater in general, we allow it. Many of us have small children here, and sometimes, you can't get a baby sitter. So once in a while we have a small one show up. However, that said, my sister who is 11 usually gets hauled in to watch the little ones and the offending parent pays her to keep them from being a distraction at rehearsal. So our situation is pretty much under control and works out pretty well.

I always get a little nervous when the audience starts filing in and someone has a baby with them. That is where a good house manager is indispensable. I watched our lovely house manager deftly move the seats of the young couple with an infant closer to the exit. All the while she made of the baby and everyone was happy. And yes, they did have to take the baby out just before act 1 ended, but it was quick and she was ready to open the door and usher them out at the first peep. She didn't leave the decision to the parents. She went to them. They came back for act 2 and all was quiet.
