***SPECIAL NOTE: ALL AUDITIONS ARE BY APPOINTMENT ONLY! THE ROLE OF MABEL IS ALREADY CAST…ALL REMAINING ROLES ARE OPEN…

We are currently looking for singer/dancers ages of 18 and up for our summer show. ALL AUDITIONERS MUST HAVE EXCELLENT HARMONIZATION SKILLS! Good comic timing also a huge plus. Please prepare a Classical Broadway style song of no more than 32 bars (NO SONGS FROM THE SHOW, PLEASE). An accompanist and CD player will be provided, ABSOLUTELY NO A CAPELLA SINGING WILL BE ACCEPTED! There will be a dance audition immediately following the vocals. Please bring the appropriate attire. There will be cold readings and harmony testing at the callbacks as necessary. Rehearsals will be Sundays at 6 p.m. and Tuesdays & Thursdays at 6:30 p.m.

Principals

Babe Williams (Mezzo w/STRONG BELT) – (Age 25-35) The feisty leader of the Union Grievance Committee who falls in love with the new superintendent, Sid Sorokin. Light dancing/movement required of this actress.

Sid Sorokin (Tenor) – (Age 28 to 35) The attractive and hardworking new superintendent. He falls in love with the leader of the Union Grievance Committee, Babe Williams. Light dancing/movement required of this actor.

Gladys (Mezzo/w STRONG BELT) – (Age 25 to 40) The president of Sleep Tite Pajama Factory's attractive and intelligent secretary. Good comic timing a must. Strong dancer is required.

Hines (Baritone) – (Age 30 to 50) An efficiency expert who is in love with Gladys and has jealousy issues. Good comic timing a must.  Should be able to dance a soft shoe well!

Prez (Baritone) – (Age 28 to 50) The head of the union. Prez is also a flirt who will hit on anything in a skirt.  Good comic timing a plus and should be able to move well!

Mae (Mezzo w/STRONG BELT) – (Age 22 to 45) A full figured worker in the factory and member of the Grievance Committee. Has a secret crush on Prez. Strong dancer is required.

Hassler (Bass/Baritone) – (Age 40 to 65) The strict president of Sleep-Tite Pajama Factory with a secret. A strong actor is preferred.



ENSEMBLE (VARYING VOCAL RANGES)

*** Please note that all ensemble members have names. This means each person will have their own chance to shine. The ensemble, because of the small size of the cast, is especially important in this piece! All should be able to move well.

Brenda – (Age 25 to 50) – A worker in the factory who is on the Grievance
Committee.

Hutchinson – (Age 18 to 35) – A worker in the factory.  Featured dancer in "Steam Heat" therefore strong dance skills required!

Genarro – (Age 18 to 35) – A worker in the factory.  Featured dancer in "Steam Heat" therefore strong dance skills required!

Pete/Pop – (Age 40-65) – Factory worker doubles as Babe's kind and hard working father.

Poopsie – (Age 18 to 35) – Blonde bombshell who works at the factory. Not the brightest star in the sky.

Joe – (Age 21 to 50) – A worker in the factory and member of the Union. Prez' right hand man.

Max – (Age 21 to 50) – Head salesman for Sleep-Tite Pajama Factory

Charley – (Age 35 to 60) – Head maintenance man for Sleep-Tite Pajama Factory

Anderson – (Age 18 to 35) – Smart mouthed factory worker who gives Sid a hard time.

Patrick – (Age 18 to 40) – A worker in the factory.

Virginia – (Age 22 to 35) – A worker in the factory

Mary – (Age 22 to 35) – A worker in the factory

Sara – (Age 18 to 25) – A worker in the factory

Carmen – (Age 22 to 45) – A worker in the factory

Ann – (Age 22 to 45) – A worker in the factory

Sandra – (Age 22 to 45) – A worker in the factor
