I have had to cancel a musical because of a lack of men (4 male heavy musicals going on in the area). And I now need to get a show up in 5 weeks. I want to use the two women who were cast in the original show. Anyone got any good ideas? (can you hear the panic in my voice?) |

You didn't mention how many men you DO have? I don't think there are any all female musicals out there. My first thought was Nunsense, but if you can answer back with how many men you do have maybe we can think of more shows. The ages of men and women might be helpful too.

all female musicals: Quilters, A My Name is Alice, The Club, Jerry's Girls ... there are actually quite a few - browse through the catalogs!
Good luck. |

I haven't seen it or had any experience with it, but La Vie Ennui looks good... French cabaret singers ala Edith Piaf. It wouldn't be heavy on costumes or scenery, just very demanding of two singer/actresses and a male piano player.

Here is a great resource for anyone looking for a play or musical. It allows you to type in exactly what you are looking for. Even if you don't know what you are looking for. Anyone searching can just type in how many females, or males, have auditioned, and the type of show desired and then hit search! http://playdatabase.com/adv_search.asp

There are two female shows that may work with various ages, one is called the Taffetas. http://www.thetaffetas.com/thetaffetas.html
The other is Behive, which I have not been able to find the rights but here is a website to the touring company of the show. http://www.beehivethemusical.com/
Both of these musicals have been performed to critical claim.
Break a leg.

The two greatest days in a theater persons life, the day you start a new show and the day the damn thing closes.
