I love "Something's Afoot" had forgotten all about it. Did in summer stock years ago the tech is a bit of a bear, but as several others have posted is doable. I may add this show to our script reading list for next season.
On a related question, I don't recall there being a soundtrack anywhere to this show, or have I just never been able to find it?

There's a cast recording of the show as it appeared on cable TV in 1984 with Jean Stapleton (aka Edith Bunker) as Mrs. Tweed and Andy Gibb (!) as Geoffrey.

![]() Thanks for starting this topic. I'm going to start directing the show next week. We open Oct. 17th... I love the cast I ended up getting, but I'm a little scared of the technical aspects of the show... But its a hoot..and everyone I've ever talked to about it says that cast really gets behind it pretty easily and has fun with it. |

The original production of Something's Afoot (1976) was directed and choreographed by Tony Tanner. (same director as the off-broadway production of Joseph... 5 years later). He has a fun style.

It's been awhile since I've seen it, but the song "A Tiny Little Dinghy" has stuck in my head forever. :)

There's also quite a bit of video of the production with Andy Gibb on Youtube - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pRJMiTnEmXk.

And the other funny thing about tie-ins between Something's Afoot and Joseph, is Andy Gibb was cast in Joseph after the show moved from off-broadway to broadway and it was a total fiasco. They tried working with him and after several months had to replace him with David Cassidy. Gibb was devasted after Victoria Principal broke up with him and he was totally wasted on drugs and alcohol alot. He'd show up late for both rehearsals and the show and sometimes didn't even show up to go on for performance. His understudy was always ready to go on and had to go on a lot. It was just a horrible situation until he left the show. David Cassidy was wonderful and everyone enjoyed working with him. A total 180 degrees from what they had previously! |

It's extremely rare - but sometimes shows up on eBay - there is a hard-to-find video (not dvd) of the production filmed for "Showtime on Broadway."
