Just today I received my License Agreement for "Evita" from R&H Theatricals. Our Theater sets 561 and the average ticket price is $20. Total cost for Royalties per Performance: $650.00.

We also have to pay a $400 deposit for the entire rental period of the books, etc. Total rental fee's will be in the $450 range for the entire rental period (standard 8 weeks).

Actually, most musicals are not that much more expensive than plays as fare as royalties go. The are usually more lavish and require more sets & wardrobe though, which cost more in the run though.

If you don't have access to an Orchestra, you can rent R&H's INSTRUMENTAL EASE or if your going through MTI (Musical Theater International) they have ORCHEXTRA. They only have certain titles available for use with this system though.
