Well, if I didn't know better-I'd say the world was coming to an end.
I just received word that I will be starting rehearsals for my first ever paid acting job! 2 weeks of rehearsal (12 rehearsals total) and 3 weeks of performances. The show is Ragtime and it's at a semi-professional historic theater around here. I auditioned 2 months ago and was sure I didn't get it. Apparantly, I gave up too soon! Holy cow....what have I gotten myself into?!?! LOL |

Congratulations! I love Ragtime. You are aware of the rule that any member of this board who gets a paid acting job has to send half their salary to a random member, aren't you? And let me check my Random Member Selector . . . why, it's ME! Send the check at your earliest convenience. |

There's something funny going on around here. That's the fourth time in a row POB has drawn himself. Shoot!

POB,
I'll be sure to have my accountant cut the check after I've paid taxes, my manager, my agent, my housekeeper, my dog walker and...well...my accountant. Is it worth writing a check for 2 cents? I suppose it's just enough 'to put in' though if someone were to ask. I love Ragtime too...I did it 3 years ago with an amateur group and the results were impressive. I can't wait to see what a pro group can do with it. Just in the ensemble again-but even that's exciting. I'm just worried about the abbreviated rehearsal schedule. The first time around rehearsals went for 4 months! By the way....Can someone check the Random Member Selector? There seems to be a mechanical malfunction! |

I love this show, too, but I enjoyed the amateur production I saw even more than the professional road production I saw in the same town a few years before. I think it probably had more to do with the venue itself than the quality of the production. The professional production was in a cavernous monstrosity of a theatre seating thousands. The amateur version was in a smaller theatre seating probably fewer than 1000. Makes a big difference. |

Well, for anyone intersted....
Tonight was opening night for Ragtime. Things went exceptionally well...standing ovation from the very moment the first member of the ensemble came on stage to take their bow...and the clapping continued well after we all had exited the stage. There were, of course, a few bobbles along the way-but none of which hurt the show or it's integrity. I'm so unbelievably proud of being involved in this cast...I know it sounds cheesy...but I walk into the theater every day and say "I'm not worthy...." Now, I'm exhausted.....so I'm off to bed :) |
