Community Theater Green Room Discussion Board: Need Help

Message

   I am trying to remember the name of a French play but for the life of me can't pull it from my aging brain!
The story as I remember it is about a small town where the inhabitants are slowly turned into animals (elephants?).  The townspeople not affected refuse to recognize that the others are changing and continue to live their lives in denial until the inevitable happens to them.
Please help me out if you know this play!

	Would that be Ionesco's Rhinoceros? http://www.untitledtheater.com/Rhinocerosessay.htm I understand it had a legendary performance by Zero Mostel in New York in 1961. (Edited because I do, honestly, know how to spell Eugene Ionesco's name. )
