Topic: short one act NEED THIS SOON!!! Posted: 4/11/06 at 2:16pm |
My school is doing a night one one acts and monologues and due to unforeseen circumstances we had to cut one of the shows because of one actong constantly missing. I'm in need of a replacement one act. We have 1 female and 3 males. I'd really prefer if the play is edgy to the point of risque. Crass language prefered as the name of the show is EXPOSED. If not crass...really strange or off-color would be nice too. I know this is specific but it's crunch time.
Thanks in advance for your help! |

David Ives has written a bunch of short one-acts that are all funny and many are "offbeat" to say the least. The name escapes me, but one is a Mamet parody that ends with the line, "Okay, has everybody said "F**k yet?" For that matter, there's Sexual Perversity in Chicago by Mamet himself. It was made (read: radically changed) into the Rob Lowe / Demi Moore movie about last night . . . . Runs about an hour, IIRC, and requires 2M 2F, so it might not work for you. Since this is a student production, though, [meaning it's a class project and not a public showing, right? RIGHT? YOU HEAR ME?] you might get away with doing some cuttings, one or two of the couples' scenes and one of Litko's monologs. |

If you want something off the wall you could look at Sam Sheapards Savage/Love. The text is kind of a group of poems. I did this show in college and it turned out great. need a good amount of prep time though. What about Laundry and Burbon?

The David Ives collection is called "All in the Timing" published by Dramatists. There are several good one acts in there. But the one that might work best for your cast requirments is "Words Words Words". It's 3 monkeys locked in a room with 3 typewriters trying to write Hamlet. Very funny and very off the wall.

Words, Words, Words is HYSTERICAL
I've seen it five or six times - and it never fails to amuse! |
