Topic: Stained glass window

We're going to build a floor-to-ceiling back-lit stained glass window
(about 9 feet tall) for The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. Before we just
plow ahead, I thought I'd ask if anyone's done this successfully
before...and how!

There is an acrylic (I think its acrylic) paint system sold in craft stores. We did it on Plexiglas. The system comes with black plastic lines that stick to the window to provide the "lead" look. Then, once the design is laid out, these tube paints are spread in the open areas. They dry translucent to opaque.

I?m sure there are many other ways, but that?s the one we used

I think I might begin with my window frame built of wood and painted black to simulate the leading in the glass. To the back of this frame how about gluing or stapling pieces of lighting gel. A large variety of colors and diffusers are available and many theaters have scraps of gel that can be used before having to resort to buying new.

An alternative thought to actually building the window is to do it with lighting. Get a glass gobo with multiple colors then a stainglass window gobo insert them both into the same instrument, and wa-la instant stainglass window.
