Topic: 6 high platfrom Posted: 11/04/05 at 7:33pm |
Hi, we have constructed a 6' high palatform that is 22"" wide base and has 2X4 supports shooting out at the bottom to which casters are bolted. The problem is that when we use locking casters....its slides...I am considering wagon brakes or does anyone else have valid ideas. Another thought was to mount D-rings to the floor that a chain with an S-hook would clip into or carribeaner |

I just use the cheap step on locking door jams,
which are mounted flat on to the bottom of a door, in this case a rostra. You can pick them up at most hardware stores, only drill out the holes & use larger screws than are supplied with them. They have a press down spigot in the centre, with a round rubber boot on the end, & a locking plate is jams and holds the spring loaded spigot shaft & only has to be depressed by your foot to release There are lots of other ways to cheaply brake a rostra truck, but this is about the most effective, that is simple & uncomplicated & works every time with little or no effort. _______ Joe |

I just read your post again!
6 foot high x 22 inch wide, depending on the length & structure of the rostra, could be a different kettle of sardines? Depending upon the sway rhythm factor, that can build up with performers moving on top, you may develop adverse twisting, in which case castor brakes may be the answer or can create topple problems as well! |
