My Theatre Group is considering doing Woody Allen's Don't Drink the Water but some Board Members are concerned that past allegations against him might have a negative impact on our production (ticket sales, general attendance, etc.)
Anyone have any experience with producing Woody Allen since the allegations came out against him? |

If the play was a romantic comedy about an older man dating a much-younger woman, then I can see where you might encounter a few raised eyebrows. "Don't Drink the Water" is a farce, plain and simple. The characters and situations are outrageous and the script is absurdly funny. There is no reason anybody should take this show seriously. |

"Play It Again, Sam" was a big hit for us just a couple of years ago. I think Topper is right. As long as the subject of the show doesn't seem to be reflective of recent allegations, I think there's a kind of cognitive disconnect in the mind of the public that works in your favor.

I saw Don't Drink the Water last season at a local community theatre. I was not impressed. It felt extremely dated. The acting itself was fairly good, but I just had an overall blah feeling about the play.
