Topic: Stage floor refinishing Posted: 7/18/13 at 9:15pm |
My stage floor floor is badly worn and needs sanding and repainting. It's construction is tongue and groove plywood over 2 x 4 sleepers resting on concrete. Any thoughts on how to sand, fill and paint?

You might consider just covering the existing floor with 1/4" masonite.

I know just what you mean. I'd like to do that on our stage too but the apron is maple. Ours is a too soft pine (or similar) T&G planking that gouges easily causing large pieces splinter off (1/2"-8"). Pealing up tape not only pulls off paint, but it ca tae off an 1/8" of wood with it. I have to get out there a few times a year to patch the pits with plastic wood and repaint the floor. Perhaps that would work for you. We are using back deck paint from home depot, but there is probably something better.

I'm guessing replacing the floor is not in-budget all at once... but perhaps you could replace just a few of the pieces of plywood at a time? Or radical thought, turn it over. Then paint it.
