Topic: The Whipping Man - how to hide the amputation Posted: 4/18/13 at 10:39am |
I am currently working props and set decoration for a production of 'The Whipping Man', and there is an onstage amputation to end the first act. During the second act, we have to hide the leg of the actor, and apart from cutting a hole in the loaned chaise lounge (which we cannot do), does anyone have any suggestions? I usually can find info out on Google, but am having no luck. I realize this is a sensitive issue right now, in light of current events.
Thanks for any help or suggestions you can offer. Dondero |

Option #1: Either replace an existing cushion temporarily or add a second layer of cushion. This replacement will have a hole cut so that the actor can place his leg through. He will be sitting with his leg bent back below him...so he's sitting on his foot.
Option #2: Have the actor sit as above (sitting on his foot), wrap his knee with a bandage to disguise that it is bent. Throw a blanket over him. |
