We are looking at doing Disney's The Little Mermaid Jr for our CT. My big concern is that it will be too short for people to feel like they've gotten their money's worth. I think it will be a visually great show (fun set/fun costumes) and the music is catchy and well known (albeit a bit shorter than the real version). But the show only runs about an hour long. Opinions?

Usually these shows are meant to be performed by kids, and the parents, relatives, and friends don't expect a full two-hours worth. We also NEVER charge what we would for a full production. Most often it's done as part of a kid's theatre camp and there's no charge for the show. If you ARE going to charge - keep it minimal.

We just produced it in our community theater in western PA to sold-out houses (13 performances). We invite all local K-8 schools, produce a teacher's guide for them, and they come in droves in buses. The hour is just fine for children that age....and they loved it. We do two evening performances for friends and families who work since the shows are otherwise done in the daytime hours during the normal school day. Good luck!
