I'm in need of a somewhat comedic monologue, but no longer than a minute ... male, mid 50's.
I've only done local community theatre and it's always been cold readings from the script. I've decided to try auditioning for a larger theatre (no particular show or part) and they require a monologue. Oh yeah ... auditions are in two weeks so the sooner I find something the better. Thanks |

Beverly's monologue (this is a male character, despite the name) at the start of "August: Osage County".
John Honeyman in "A Walk In The Woods" has a couple good ones - a particularly good one in Act Two, Scene Two where he talks about getting arrested for littering. Gordon's monologue that starts Act Two in "Dead Man's Cell Phone" Anything from "Faith Healer" by Brian Friehl - an embarrassment of riches; both male characters. From your local library, pick up "Don Juan In Hell" which is Act 3 of G.B. Shaw's "Man and Superman." Don Juan, the Devil, and the Statue all have great monologues. If you don't mind playing an old man, Mr. Green in "Visiting Mr. Green" has a great little speech about how he met his wife waiting in line to use a common toilet in the tenements in New York. Break a leg!!! Edited by edh915 - 2/17/12 at 11:06am |
