Hello,
I recently found out that my childhood theatre has filed for bankruptcy. The theatre company I started a few years ago raises money for charities in need and we thought no better charity than this. I am looking for a WELL KNOWN, AUDIENCE MAGNET, COMEDY. Something people will see a poster for and go and see the show. Cast size is not an issue. However we are not looking for Shakespeare. Let me know what you think. I want to pick a show that will raise a good amount of money and attract a big crowd. Thanks SO much, Jack |

It's not well known like "The Odd Couple" or anything like that; but I recommend "Love, Sex and the IRS" by William Van Zandt and Jane Milmore (Samuel French). The title's a grabber, and the show lives up to it. A sure-fire audience pleaser.
Brief synopsis: Two guys, Les (short for Leslie) and Jon, share an apartment. Money's tight and in order to save every available dime, Jon files tax returns for the two of them as a married couple. So the IRS comes to investigate, intent on meeting Jon's "wife" Leslie (Les in full fright wig, dress, make-up, etc), on the same day that Leslie's mother, Jon's fiancee, and Leslie's ex-girlfriend each (individually) decide to pay a call. Sounds dumb, I know, but it plays really well. Check it out. |
