Topic: Looking for Courtroom/Jury Dramas and Comedies Posted: 7/18/11 at 3:05pm |
I am researching plays to produce and direct with my theatre company this fall, and I am interested in finding courtroom /jury dramas, like "12 Angry Men,"" Caine Mutiny," "To Kill a Mockingbird," and other titles. The shows can be serious and tense dramas or a comedic look at a ridiculous court case; I would entertain either one, but I am looking for a cast size between 15 and 25.
Anybody producing courtrroom dramas or comedies out there? I would be interested to hear of your successful projects or any suggested titles. I did "12 Angry Men" back in 1998, and enjoyed the conflicts and characters put under this kind of theatrical microscope. Thanks in advance, Martin |

“The Andersonville Trial” “Witness for the Prosecution” “Chicago” (the original 1926 play the musical was based on) – It’s all about the legal system and Act III is the trial. |

I remember doing one many. many, many years ago that I remember as being pretty darn good: "The Night of January 15th." -- You might want to check it out.

Our group did "Jury Room" last year. It's very similar to 12 Angry Men. Minimal set required.

"Witness For the Prosecution" is a good, solid Agatha Christie mystery/thriller that isn't done very often due to its large cast.

The show's called "Night of January 16th." By Ayn Rand! I think you're thinking of the prequel. Edited by falstaff29 - 9/07/11 at 8:26pm |
