We're thinking about doing the Neil Simon play Rumors.
Any advice on producing this?

Well, no, I saw it done a year or so ago and LOVED it. Make it happen.

I directed it at my high school a few years ago and it was fantastic. I had a very strong cast and they did a great job with it. I've seen it done with a weaker cast and it can really show off a weak actor. I did a different Neil Simon a year and a half ago (Odd Couple Female Version) and it appeared the royalties had almost doubled (from $75 to $125 per performance for a school) and they had a very strict required agreement about not changing language. The call it the "Neil Simon Rider". Rumors does have a handful of "f-bombs" and many "sh**"s if those are concerns.
Bottom line: Great show, fairly easy unit set, extremely funny, great ending. If you can find a way to do it well, you will not disappoint your audiences.

If you check out the Neil Simon shows at Samuel French, you'll find that ALL of them are now $125 per night. Even "The Star Spangled Girl".
