I find it amazing that there are actually people on this " little island" 7,000 miles away that care about "community theater". Do you "blokes" do musicals? And what musicals do you do?

I can't answer for those who dwell beyond the black stump or the t'ther side of the rabbit proof fence, in the vastly unexplored areas of Gondwanadaland . But here at the R Send of the world on the Swan River Free Settlement of the 'Sandgroper' State. There are about 100+ Comeatres, who are allowed to do the odd musical show now 'n then like; http://www.theatre.asn.au/theatre_reviews/spamalot Edited by JoeMc - 1/22/11 at 4:10am |

Wait a minute. NDTENOR, did you think community theatre (or theater) was only in the U.S.? Why WOULDN'T Aussies care about community theatre? It's not like they live on an ISLAND. Well, actually, they do, but every now and then one of 'em escapes and brings back news from the rest of the world. LOL! (If I'm not mistaken, isn't theatre in Australia older than theatre in America?)

G'donya Spectrum! Chookas NDTenor - to ensure your playing with a full house!Just out of interest comeatre of sorts was apparently practiced here in Western Australia during the 1620's, by the dutch shipwreck survivors, after the Dutch ships captain Dirk Hartog discovered Terra Australis [New Holland] back in 1616. Which was some 50 odd years before the POHMy sea Captain jimmy Cook set foot at Botany Bay NSW. Which may add weight to WA actually to susede from the rest of Australia, in much the same way as the Princedom of 'Hut River Province' in WA's north West is a sovereign State of it's own. The biggest hiccup to any thought of succession is we only have around 2 Million people here, of which around 70% live in the Perth Metro area, so this will not happen anytime soon. Joe, you've got your area numbers wrong. Australia has an area of just over 7.5 million square kilometers, of which approximately 2.5 million square kilometers are in Western Australia.
I've been discussing a potential visit to teach playwriting workshops there, and apparently community theatre in WA is alive and well - though unfortunately, I've had to delay my trip. Cheers, Jon |

Beaudy Jon! I have been sprout'n those figures for eons & your the first one to ever point out my major rigydidge blue. you go to the top of the wozza! One excuse would be as I'm only a Pohmy bastard that wouldn't know any better. The other would be I'm as thick as brick & twice as dense.
[which would be more dinky die & fairdinkum.].
But it is good to know we are a larger island than I thought! G'donya Jon. |

I appreciate the information about the theater sites in Australia. Would love to visit some day and I'll be sure to catch some theater when I do. If you ever get to Chicago you might try a few a ours too.
