I am new to this forum. In fact, I am new to the theatre business! I am in charge of making sure our talent gets paid, which mainly includes putting together the contracts (using a template and a completed request form with all of the pertinent information), then sending the contract, along with the required forms to be filled out like tax forms, I-9, direct deposit form, etc. Being in NYS, apparently this is all very necessary (much to the annoyance of some of the talent that we have brought in). Our theatre is a small non-profit theatre in Upstate New York that brings in talent, equity and non-equity, mostly from NYC, as well as from other parts of the country. I would love to hear from other theatre business offices, especially in New York because of the tax laws, and hear how you do things.
