Topic: rigging a small scrim to raise and lower. Posted: 4/08/10 at 8:05pm |
Hello,
I would like to raise and lower a small scrim 12H X 8W. We don't have any fly space and the scrim will be just behind a large frame (like a picture). Has anyone ever rigged one up like a roman shade? Any suggestions?
Thanks (first time on this msg board)

G'day Donna
There is a great article by Vicki Franks, a member here, on her Company site Moving scrims without a fly space. I have made up & used a few of these that we call tumblers [oleo, olio], but I think the type that may suit you would be more on the lines of a of a roll up type, utalising the tail batten as the roller, rather than that of the 'Holland' blind style. This would be the simplest & cheapest method, however I'm sure Vicki would be able to assist you further locally & piont you in the right direction, as she is the guru on scrims here. I may have missed the piont here, do only require an upstage scene to be revealed behind a scim set in a picture frame?
If so yolu would only need to do some trasnsposing of the lightging to achieve this. Edited by JoeMc - 4/11/10 at 7:04pm |

Yes, the reveal would only be within the frame but I also want a set piece or two to move DS thru the frame as well. This is why I want to rig the scrim to raise and lower. Sorry, I was a little vague before.
