Community Theater Green Room Discussion Board: Nondiscrimination Policy

   Hi folks --

I am on the Board of a community theatre.  We are drafting a nondiscrimination policy (mostly for compliance with grant requirements).  While our theatre certainly does not discriminate, it's clear that identity-based factors like gender and race can play a role in casting.  We are concerned about accounting for that, while also having a clear policy against discrimination.

Any samples out there?

	Here is the nondescrimination statement from our policy handbook. As I recall we modified from someone elses. The language on these kinds of statements is pretty standard. Anti-Discrimination Statement Community Players believes in equal opportunity for employees, members and volunteers. Community Players’ success depends on the effective utilization of qualified people regardless of their race, creed, color, age, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, disability or any other characteristic protected by law. We will not discriminate on the basis of these characteristics in any personnel or member action.
