Hi everyone. I need your help. I am directing our next show as well as producing. Yes, I know that is too much for one person to do that is why I am asking everyone's help.
Our group is a small group and we are reaching out to people and having them do certian tasks. What I am wondering is if you had to assemble a task list for about three or four people to do to help sell tickets for a show, what would you put on it?

We ask our actors to sell tickets, and have a contest to encourage them to do so. We also have a "box office" (local library) where tickets can be purchased. Otherwise, tickets are available at the door. We also ask parents (our actors are youth) to sign-up to "work" our shows ... backstage, costuming, sound board, ticket takers, etc. and spell out the requirements. So far, no one hasn't signed up to help out. Usually people are more than willing if you ask.
If I had to make a task list I might have someone contact businesses to purchase blocks of tickets, a couple other people might have a "booth" somewhere (think cookie sales) to promote/sell tickets to the show, someone you trust might be the "ticket master" (I do this one!) and handle all the tickets/money so that's one thing you won't have to worry about.

I would break down the ticket job this way:
*one person designs and prints off the tickets (both adult & child tickets)
*one person approaches businesses and outlets where the tickets can be
purchased and provides the tickets to these places and keeps them
supplied and collects monies
*one person advertises by fliers, posters, and articles where to purchase
the tickets
*lastly, one person is in charge of setting up a table and selling tickets at
any function or gathering in the community that may attract a lot of
people. This is especially effective if you bring along a few of the actors
in costumes.
Good Luck!
