Any ideas on how a moon can be transformed to the face of a clock.

Easiest is projection, either front or rear projection.

You could do two instruments, one with a clock gobo and the other with a moon gobo aimed at the same spot, then cross fade between them.

It's not a lighting solution, but you could make a cut out - one side a moon and the other side a clock and spin it from one side to the other.
