Renting a car would be much easier and you don't have to figure out what to do with it when the show is over. Check this out...

We did Grease this past spring and still have the car we used. We would like to get rid of it or sell it. Where are you? We are in Wharton, TX maybe you can use ours.

We have a car we built for the Full Monty that is for sale. It could be modified to make it into Grease Lightning pretty easily. The car is located in Charlestown, WV and is available immediately (our show just closed).
I can send you some pics if you are interested.

Thanks
I live in Minnesota. The cost for shipping would be more than building one Thank you for your reply

In re: to the car in Wharton - we are doing a production of Grease in San Antonio and are looking for a car. We are willing to come pick it up under the right circumstances. Can you send me an email at Allison_Newsom@yahoo.com with pictures and details, if you still have it available? Thank you!

Well..do you want a car that you see the side profile, or from the front? When we did the show..we showed the front of the car and it never went profile...we got an old car from a salvage yard (free) with no motor in it, but the body was in decent shape. We took a cutting torch and cut the back end and roof off to make it a convertable..and then painted it red with firestripes. The only thing we used was from the front seats on forward..and we mounted castors at the rear so the car "piece" was very manueverable on stage, plus it was light weight with no rear end or engine in it. It worked great.

Our high school had a golf cart they used for the grounds. We borrowed it and attached stiff foam cut outs to the front and sides. It took an hour to cut out and another hour to paint. The audience loved it!!!! |
