After 15 years of exile for a crime he did not commit, the barber Sweeney Todd returns to London bent on revenge against the corrupt Judge Turpin and his Beadle, while Anthony, Todd's young sailor friend, falls desperately in love with Todd's daughter Johanna, Judge Turpin's ward.  Things turn macabre as the amoral piemaker Mrs. Lovett discovers that Todd's bloodlust could be good for business... it's a grim affair, but since "everybody goes down well with beer,"  it's bloody good fun.
