Here's the new dilema...   The old theatre group that was working here decided to disban and left our area without a CT.  When they disbanded they also changed the website to a VERY negative and attacking website about the failure of theatre in our area.  Many people have seen this and moved to a stand point of it being too much drama for them to deal with.  The site is attacking any and all past or present groups in the area as well, and says that there is a list of names coming soon of people who can kiss their "Hairy White A&&".   What can a group that has an owner and president that knows what they are doing do to change this air that has been created. 

 

This has stemmed over into our auditions for The Glass Menagerie, and other aspects such as sponsors and getting people involved in our group.  We are working out of the same venue here as the questioned group that started the drama with the site.   Is there anything that we can do to go about changing this air?

 

Any and all suggestions are helpful to us, and hopefully we can get things going and move forward in a positive light.

It seems to be just basic jealousy for not being able to succeed as compared to the other groups.  Hopefully, this matter will just go away quickly.  Best of luck.

Hmmm, have you tried getting local papers to do a write-up on your theater, making sure to highlight the fact that YOUR theater is in no way associated with the failed and obviously disgruntled regime of the "OLD" theater. I mean this slander or liable, whichever it is, does need to be addressed to see if you can put a stop to it, but it sounds like you need to also try to peel back the damage already done.  Sounds like it's going to be tough, but try getting the word out anyway you can.
