We did it at our theater several years ago. I didn't particularly care for it -- WAY too New Age-y for me -- but I guess it's a matter of taste. It was one of those that we did where we could say, "Yeah, we did that one," but in the end, a pretty forgettable play. I doubt seriously any audience members remember it -- it certainly didn't burn up any attendance records.

I think we are on the opposite end, this show was one of those rememberable one and get asked every year if we will do this again as a Christmas show.  It took a little for the group to initially warm up to the show initially but once they looked at the heart of the show it turned out to really sparkle.
You have some wonderful characters, a great part for an actor to push the limits of acting (Mickey).  Then add in the magic at the end of the show and you have a heart warming christmas show that is not a re-hash of A Christmas Carol.
The two greatest days in a theater persons life, the day you start a new show and the day the damn thing closes.

I was in a production of this play several years ago and it's still, to this day, one of the most amazing and memorable experiences I've had in the theatre.  It holds a place as "One of those shows!"  And most of you on this board probably know what I mean by that.  They're all special...but some just stand out as an all-around amazing experience that brings fond, fond memories whenever it's brought up.

And I'd like to point out that one of the reasons the show was so memorable was the response we got from the audience!  They  L O V E D  this show!!  (LOVED it!!)  As a matter of fact, until I did The Laramie Project several years later, I'd never experienced a play that touched so many people.

It's tricky, though.  Get the tone wrong and it could all fall apart in a hurry.

Get it right, though, and it's WAY more than just a pleasant afternoon or evening in the theatre.  It can be magic!  And since my criteria is that in addition to entertaining an audience I want to do shows that will touch people or move people or inspire people, Greetings! will forever hold a place in my heart as one of my favorite experiences.

I highly recommend the script.

Watching someone struggle to maintain control is far more fascinating than watching them lose it.
