Has anyone done Bunnicula?
How did you do the character Bunnicula? Puppet? If so, where did you get it?
Thanks!

No, I haven't seen "Bunnicula". I read all(?) the novels though. Is it from Howie and the other dog's point of view like the books? If so, you might have an actor play Bunnicula, even though there are no lines. (?) If you want a puppet, you could probably add fangs and the cape markings on an ordinary rabbit puppet, or have your costumer make one from a simple hand puppet pattern. I made a dog hand puppet, and the biggest challenge was that the pattern did not specify how much to enlarge from the grid, so it would fit a person with huge hands.

Yes, 'Bunnicula' is from the viewpoint of Harold and Chester (the dog and cat). Great script! As noted in the script "Bunnicula himself is a large puppet, more in scale with the other animals than with the Monroe family. A puppeteer accompanies him around the stage." I've found places that make him, but he runs between $350-500 for rental and that's most of our budget at the moment. We may have to put off doing the show until we can better afford him. :o(

When we did Bunnicula last October we used a purchased hand puppet and it worked very well. We have photos of it if you are interested -- they just aren't posted on our website, yet --and I am also quite certain that we still have the puppet if you want to borrow it. If you want to PM me I can connect you with the director.

I loved Bunnicula. It's not just for kids. The one I saw used a marionnette (sp?) and the puppeteer was all in black. It was very well done.
