ConfusedI just need to vent to theatre people.  We have been in rehearsal since the beginning of Jan. This is a Comm. College production. I scheduled extra rehearsals this week (2 extra days) 4 of the 6 cast members could come, this was not a problem we worked on different beats to button up some of the scenes and timing. All is going well. I had a double planned for Thursday the 3rd of April we open Tuesday the 8th a 9:30 school matinee and at 2:00. I was so excited after Tuesdays rehearsal the cast was knocking at the door of the moment a director can relax and say "We've got a show!" Big%20smileI came home exilarated and confident. Perhaps that was my mistake. lol Cry
The problem is a sewer main breakage at the college, it is shut down until repaired, again we open Tuesday. Also, water was coming up from the drains IN OUR GREEN ROOM bathroms..... which are directly behind the stage. I have a double rehearsal scheduled for Monday, it may turn into a triple. I know this is out of my control and the reasonable side of my brain is dealing with it. The director side of my brain is....upset and pissed. Angry
Its the only way to put it I guess.
Thanks for listening........or reading rather....... please send us good thoughts and a few prayers too. We need it. I hope I get a great phone call tomorrow telling me to wake up my nightmare is over. Clap

I am keeping a good thought for you. The good thing about plumbing problems is that people really work to get them resolved quickly. You will be surprised at how people will rally. Can you find alternate space to rehearse in while they are making repairs?  Let us know how it all turns out.

My thoughts are with you!  That doesn't help your plumbing, but know that you are not alone - we were trying to open "Nunsensations!" and had a huge rainstorm - didn't know all the drains on the roof were plugged.  Roof leaked...down onto our white flats...took "Killz" and two coats of paint to fix.  That wasn't the hard part, we were already pushed to the limits, but we managed.  The good news is, you will prevail and the show will be wonderful.  This is what we all love about theater - right?

My thoughts and prayers are with you.  We ran into this in August when rapid flooding put 7 feet of water into our playhouse destroying all but the auditorium.  Six months later we are back on our feet and running.  Our prayers are all you lose is some time.

Update: We are still shut down, I am affiliated with our local CT, therefore we can use that facility to rehearse on Monday if necessary.  I hope the damage is minimal and the show will go on.  Thanks for all your good thoughts. I knew if I vented here I would get some positive feedback and people that have had similar situations with great outcomes.

We're thinking about you here, too. If you've been rehearsing that long, the show is probably in better shape than you think and they should get the plumbing fixed in time.

4-7-08Update:Thumbs%20Up Well, the scuba divers and college closed sign has been removed from the college website. I am taking this as a good sign that all is well. I will go tomorrow morning to check out the theatre and hope that there is no damage or minimal damage at best. Thanks to all of you for your thoughts and prayers in my dilema. I will let you know how opening day is in 2 days. Oh boy. As the saying goes: "The Show Must Go On!"

My thoughts are with you too. In the beginning of '07 the pipes in our bathrooms burst and we had water running out of the bathrooms and into our lobby.  Luckily it was in early January between our fall show and our spring show, so we hadn't even had auditions yet.  Long story short, our bathrooms got repaired, new floors, fresh coat of paint etc... and all before auditions the last week of January.  So it will work out. That is the magic of theater.  "Break a Leg!"  and remember we empathize with you!
Lots of love and good thoughts for your production!

Update:  IT'S A SHOW!  Thank you for all of your good thoughts and prayers. The sewer is fixed, we had a double rehearsal today that didn't go great but went well. As the saying goes a rough final rehearsal makes a great opening night.  Thanks again everyone!

Actually I feel having a major hiccup during a production, always bodes well for a great show!
It never fails to amase me. that the greater the problems, the more everyone focuses on achieving the improbable.
Bewdy gaftpres for pushing 'it up hill & chookas for opening night!
At least it was only the bathrooms & not the Dunny's!Wink
