I just finished directing Harvey at the Orlando Fringe Festival. It went well. Over the summer I want to read a lot of plays to choose the show for next year. I've read lots of good play suggestions in this forum, but just want to ask again. I'm open to both comedy and drama, and it can be a 1-act or full-length. The only main criteria is that it can't be beyond PG-13 material. I am considering The Nerd. I would love to read some more comedies similar to that style. On the drama side, I am looking into Scooter Thomas Makes It To The Top of the World. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Can't be beyond Pg-13?   What makes it a fringe festival?   Fringe usually implies edgy or non-traditional (not that that in and of itself means it has to be more than PG-13).     Harvey seems to be almost the furthest one could get from edgy or non-traditional.  Unless perhaps it was done kabuki style.

If Fringe is about going out on a limb, then I feel like bringing these types of shows makes me the one doing something different, if that makes sense. It has worked well the past 2 years. Harvey was a very different type of show from the rest and for me I think that fits the spirit of Fringe. As far as limitation, I have access to very talented actors, so casting for most shows wouldn't  be hard, but sets should be simple (everything must be brought on and off... No building any box sets).
