Marty - picture me making a cross with my fingers and screaming. Loved the show, it was really very good, but getting to opening night was hell.

Hey Red Diva,
Here is a little saying I like a lot:
The two happiest days in a theater person's life: The day you start on a new show and the day the damned thing closes.

Ok so I've only directed once but it was a great experience. Had a dream cast that did everything I asked of them. (I'm directing again this coming winter and can only hope it goes half as well.)
"Over the River and Through the Woods"
It was my Grandparents House!
Favorite roles.
1. Norman Bulansky "Boys Next Door"
2. Don "Rounding Third"
3. Cameron "The Foursome"
4. Howard "Cheaters"
5. Nick "A Businessman's Lunch"

My personal all-time favorite was Sylvia in "Sylvia" - performed while I was living in the Philadelphia area (Langhorne Players). I doubt I will be able to top that one for a loong time - and this was nearly ten years ago!
Since moving back to California, some new favorites have been added:
Reggie Fluty/Ensemble in "The Laramie Project"
Ruth Hoch in "Book of Days"
Maggie in "Dancing at Lughnasa"
Miss Jones in the revival version of "How to Succeed in Business..."

Favorite Roles:
Spring Overton in "No Mother to Guide Her"
Karen Andre in "On the Night of January the 16th"
A Squirrl, a mouse and part of a stone dragon in "The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe" (My first play ever. I was 9)
And last but not least: The Mute in "The Fantasticks" What could be better? No lines or music to memorize, AND I'm on stage the entire show! lol
Directing:
I've only done two so far:
"Lady Sophie's Secret" (my directorial debuet)
And "Stop the Presses! Or...She's Not My Type!" The one I'm doing now and I'm having a blast!

I have to say that I am amazed that I did not see any of my own personal favorite roles listed by anyone else in here.
Favorite Roles I've Played to date: 6) Danny Zuko in "Grease!" 5) Tom in "Fat Pig" 4) Little Harp in "The Robber Bridegroom" 3) The Baker in "Into the Woods" 2) Leslie Arthur in "Love, Sex, and the I.R.S." 1) Lt. Dan Kaffee in "A Few Good Men" I have never played the same role twice while performing in over 40 shows (I'm still kinda young), though I will be reprising my role of Leslie Arthur in a reunion show of Love, Sex and the IRS next winter....I do about 5-6 shows a year..I also have no interest in directing, though I admire those of you out there who do. |
