Community Theater Green Room Discussion Board: Theater Policy

Message

   I'm a member of a  little non-profit community theater which has a
set of by-laws but no formal theater policy exists.  I suggested that a
written policy/procedural manual be set in place and then got assigned
the task to write one up to present to the Board of Directors.  

I'm
not looking to reinvent the wheel here and would appreciate any help
with this from the members of this group.  If any of you belong to a
theater with a written policy, I would really appreciate seeing what
you have and perhaps glean some of the information that would apply to
our theater.

	A year ago we were in the exact same situation. Over the period of about four months came up with our manual, a lot of it was either putting into one place things we already had written (like job descriptions) or putting on paper things we were already doing. I've also written a series of articles on this topic for the Nebraska Association of Community Theatres' newsletter. 	My CT has 3 sets of governing documents: By-laws (can only be ammended by the memberhsip), Policies and Proceedures (can be ammended by the Board of Directors), and Job Descriptions. Here is the link to our docs. http://www.geocities.com/rushcountyplayers/documents.html
